Jane needs a ride to California to see her estranged boyfriend. Michael, driving to California to see his family, reluctantly agrees to take Jane with him. His concerns are justified as one catastrophe after another plague their cross-country journey. By the time they reach California, after all their fighting and laughing, they unexpectedly realize the happiness they are seeking is found in their being together.

Disillusioned with life in Los Angeles, Gary and Diana Webber pack their bags and move their “punk rock” kids to the woods of Oregon.
