AuroraAURORA (1984)

Aurora is the mother of a blind, illegitimate 11-year-old boy, Ciro. She embarks on an odyssey through Italy to track down old lovers hoping to persuade each to pay for an operation that would restore her son’s sight. She tells each of her ex-lovers that Ciro is their son. Ciro gets his sight back and Aurora is reunited with David, the man she really loves.

THE KILLING OF RANDY WEBSTER (1981)

Randy is a high-strung teenager at odds with his father. One night he runs off with a friend, they get drunk and steal a van. Early in the morning, Randy’s parents, John and Billie, receive a call from the police telling them Randy is dead – shot by the police. Disbelieving the story the police tell him about Randy’s death, John begins his own investigation. Eventually, he discovers the truth behind his son’s brutal murder at the hands of corrupt police officers.

LAWMAN WITHOUT A GUN (1979)

Reverend Tom Haywood returns to his hometown and discovers that, even though the county has a majority black population, it is being run by the white Tayman family. After several confrontations with the authorities and finding it impossible for any black person to receive justice, Tom runs for sheriff. Following several attempts on his life and ballot-box tampering, Tom becomes Alabama’s first black sheriff – and the first to govern without a gun.
